Farrier wins £6000 training award

Paul Gray from Middlesborough has won a Queen Elizabeth Scholarship worth £6,000 to help him complete his farriery apprenticeship. He began his apprenticeship in 2003 at the age of 26 and is working with John Firth of Wakefield and attending Warwickshire College on block release. He is a former army and armed forces boxing champion, a qualified riding instructor and has travelled the world working on horse ranches and teaching riding.

QEST Scholarships worth up to £15,000 are awarded twice a year for training and work experience to craftspeople of all ages. Further information: www.qest.org.uk
